Conference on GISFI:Sinhagad Technical Education Society’s Smt Kashibai Navale College of Engineering has organised an international conference on ‘Global ICT standardization forum for India (GISFI)’ on May 29 and 30. It is an attempt to establish GISFI under the initiative of Ramjee Prasad, director, Centre for Teleinfrastrure, Denmark, and other eminent scholars in telecommunication field with support from telecommunication department. The forum aims to accommodate interests of India while finalising the draft standards for telecom services and products. Eminent scholars and researchers from Japan, France, Denmark, European Commission and India will come for the conference.

Smt Kashibal Navale College of Engineering (SKNCOE) had organised a two-day conference for Information and CommunicationTechnology (ICT) with international speaker. The global ICT Standardisation Forum of India (GISFI) was held at SKNCOE campus in Wadgaon on May 29 and 30.
The chief guest for the events was Ramjee Prasad, director, Centre for Teleinfrastructure. While addressing the audience, he stated that it was extremely important for not only IITs, but regional college to incorporate upcoming technology in their curriculum, as it was important to encourage student at the grass-root level.
Eminent dignitaries from tries like Reliance, Larson & Toubro, Nokia Siemens Networks and Tata Consultancy Services was also present for the same.
The function was inaugurated by K Shridhar, member technology, government of India. In this speech, he said it was a pity that although the overall demand in India is 10 million cellphones per month, it is unable to manufacture the handsets here. This was followed by presentation from Jorgan Friss, deputy director general of European Telecommunications Standards Institute, Shingo Ohmori, Centre for Teleinfrastructure (CTIF), Japan and Kiyoshi Sekiguchi, Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB), Japan, Ashok Chandra, wireless advisor, government of India and Arun Golas, deputy director general, Telecom Engineering Centre (TEC), government of India.

The Global ICT (Information and Communication Technology Standardization Forum for India (GISFI) was inaugurated by K. Sridhara, Member, Technology, Telecom Commission, Govt. of India. Until now, there was no forum to represent India on the global stage, no official contact point for the same. The inauguration was part of the two-day International Conference on GISFI that was held at the Sinhgad Technical Education Society’s Smt Kashibai Navel College of Engineering (SKNCOE) on the 29th and 30th of May. The conference aimed to explore the possibilities for patent based Ph.D studies all over the world.
Dr. Ramjee Prasad, Director, Centre forTeleinfrastructure (CTIF), Denmark, and eminent scholars from the telecommunication area, along with Govt. of India representatives were present at the function. Eminent scholars / researchers from Denmark, Japan, France the European Commission and India were also part of this workshop.
The Sinhgad Technical Education Society (STES) has also donated 15 acres of land as the part of the vision to establish in International Institute for Innovation in Communication Technology (I3CT)
